The Kingdom of Burdette had been without a national sport for months. After a citizen who is the Minister of Defense and a Member of Parliament suggested that the nation sport be declared Chess because Chess is a sport of the mind. Chess is wide spread in the Kingdom of Burdette with global citizens commonly playing it online and the local citizens also commonly play it. The King of Burdette also enjoys the game and was in a chess club once.
The King of Burdette then released Royal Edict #004 which declared Chess the national sport of Burdette. He also declared that there would be a Chess tournament each year where citizens of Burdette, Foreign diplomats, foreign head of state, foreigners can participate in. The first tournament is set to be held on 1 January 2022.
