Parliament elects May as speaker

Following the 1st parliament elections on 14 December 2020 parliament was tasked with choosing a speaker to preside over Burdette Parliament. The speaker monitors the parliament voting process, formality, and debate. They are the official leader of the royal parliament.

Sign ups began on the 14th and were open for 24 hours. 5 candidates announced candidacy in the following hours. A total of 3 candidates ended up running. Voting began at 1:27 PM CST and closed at 2:00 PM when a every member of parliament had voted. May won with a four to two majority.

This was another big win for the Patriotic Front for Burdettian Unity. They had already acquired 2 seats in Parliament and they now control the speakership. There candidate May is becoming one of the early leaders of Burdette parliament.
